Entrevista con "Psycho" de Psychocalypse

Hace poco tuvimos la oportunidad de conversar con "Psycho", líder del proyecto Psychocalypse, proyecto francés que hace poco ha dado que hablar por su reciente colaboración con el vocalista de Chimaira Mark Hunter.

TMR: Primero que todo gracias por concedernos esta entrevista, partamos por el comienzo obviamente ¿Cuales son tus principales influencias musicales?
Psycho: Mis principales influencias son Machine Head, Insomnium, Chimaira, Dark Tranquillity, Ektomorf etc.Mis influencias son diversas

TMR: ¿Como nace Psychocalypse?
Psycho: Psychocalypse nace en el 2010, aparte de eso he  trabajado en otros proyectos (algo comerciales) en mi opinión la música no es objetiva, debe ser escrita con el corazón y la mente ese es el porque de este proyecto.

TMR: ¿Como definirías el sonido de Psychocalypse a alguien que nunca los ha escuchado?
Psycho: Es música melancólica y psicótica. No quiero hacer algo especial en la escena del metal porque me gusta un montón de géneros, pero para los nuevos fans definiría a Psychocalypse como una banda de "Death Melódico" con un sello personal, además nos enmarcamos como "Fantasía, ficción, death metal melódico"

TMR: ¿De que tratan las letras?
Psycho: No podría definir exactamente las letras porque no son objetivas, pero son mas emocionales y personales, así que  el tema de las letras tiene una actitud depresiva, mi sobrevivencia, el triste mundo alrededor mío, la actitud negativa de las personas a mi alrededor, los errores que he cometido en el pasado, etc. Algunas personas están tratando de entender mis palabras, pero no lo logran, porque transmito un shock emocional por medio de mis experiencias negativas en el pasado. Aquellos que critican mi trabajo y a mí son simples idiotas, porque soy un artista a lo "lobo solitario" que no crea problemas alrededor de ellos.

TMR: ¿Cómo consideras que fue la respuesta a tu nuevo trabajo "Takin a New Road"?
Psycho: Me siento bien,  porque el ultimo Ep  demostró mi nueva forma de pensar. Después de algunos errores y negatividad por la gente de mi alrededor. Es tiempo para tomar este nuevo camino con un montón de nuevas experiencias personales.

TMR ¿Cuáles son los planes para lo que queda del 2015?
Psycho: El propósito del proyecto para este año es lanzar nuestro nuevo Ep que incluye la canción "Need To Believe" con Mark Hunter y Tony Gammalo, hacer algo de merch como poleras, stickers,etc. No tengo otros propósitos musicales para este año

TMR: ¿Qué sientes sobre tu colaboración con Mark Hunter y Tony Gammalo?
Psycho: Los invitados especiales Tony y Mark brindaron algo totalmente nuevo. Como Mark señalo "a diferencia de otras de mis apariciones como invitados, soy el único vocalista en esta canción" musicalmente es un poco diferente de lo que es Chimaira, básicamente por elección personal.  Mark es uno de mis vocalistas favoritos y tener la oportunidad de que se conectara personalmente y profesionalmente con mi canción "Need to Believe" para mí fue absolutamente fantástico. Soy un artista, no una copia, así que amo hacer música original con diferentes toques de la escena metalera.

TMR: ¿Cual crees que es la mayor dificultad en la escena musical?
Psycho: La presión, lo que viene después de cada lanzamiento, las opiniones de la gente. El problema de tener una mala reputación sin razón en este género.  He dejado el proyecto un montón de veces, por eso hay tantas cosas negativas, pero ahora es mi momento, como dije en la pregunta anterior necesito creer y tomar un nuevo camino para los verdaderos fans que apoyan el proyecto. Hoy estoy solo; todo lo que quiero es seguir trabajando en mi proyecto en solitario Psychocalypse

TMR: ¿Cuál es tu opinión sobre la escena musical actual?
Psycho: Se gasta mucho dinero, la música es muy cara y hay un montón de problemas en la escena metalera, después de este ep y el tercer disco, no sé si continúe, tal vez me tome un breve descanso lo que sería cool para mí y para el proyecto, porque luego regresaría con energías renovadas

TMR: Finalmente este espacio es tuyo, puedes decir lo que quieras a tus seguidores o amigos

Recently we had the opportunity to talk with "Psycho", project leader Psychocalypse, French project that have an upcoming "Ep" entitled "Taking a New Road"

TMR: What are your main musical influences?
I'm mainly influenced by Machine Head, Insomnium, Chimaira, Dark Tranquillity, Ektomorf etc. My inspiration is diversified.

TMR: How was Psychocalypse born?

Psychocalypse was born in 2010 and beside it; by the past, I had some music projects too much commercial for me and after we have split. In my opinion, music is not objective, it must be written with heart and mind, that’s why Psychocalypse was born.

TMR: How would you define Psychocalypse’s sound to someone who has never heard of it?

It's a Melancholic and (as my pseudonym illustrates it), psychotic music. I don't want to make a special music in the metal scene because I love a lot of musical genres, but for new fans, I define Psychocalypse as a "Melodic Death" with a personal signing and personal genre: "Fantastic / Fiction / Melodic Death".

TMR: What are the lyrics of the band about?
I can't exactly define the lyrics because they are not objective but more emotional and personal. So the lyrics deal a lot with depressive attitude, my survival, the sad world around me, the negative attitude of people around me, my mistakes committed in the past etc. Some people are trying to understand me on my words, but it's really not necessary because I have an emotional shock via my negative experiences by the past. Those who criticize my work and myself are simply idiots because I'm a lone wolf artist who doesn’t create problems around him.

TMR: How do you consider the feedback about your latest album “Taking a New Road" ?
I feel good about this upcoming release because the title of this EP illustrates absolutely my new state of mind. After some mistakes and some negativity because of some people around me, it's time for me to take this new path with a lot of news personal emotions.

TMR:  What are the band's plans for the remaining months of 2015?
The project's purpose for this year is to release this upcoming EP including the song recently released "Need to Believe” (with Mark Hunter + Tony Gammalo), and to make some merchandising such as shirts, stickers etc. I have not others musical purposes for this year, I'm sorry.

TMR: What do you think about the collaboration with Mark Hunter (Chimaira)?

This special guest with Tony Gammalo + Mark Hunter brings something new. As Mark said " Unlike my recent guest appearances, I am actually the only vocalist on this track! Musically it's quite a bit different than what Chimaira did which is mainly why I chose to do it. I like being out of the box." Mark is clearly one of my favorite metal vocalist, and having the opportunity to bring their personals & professional touch in my song "Need to Believe", To me it’s absolutely fantastic. I'm an artist, not a copy, so I love to make Original Music with different and cool touches into extreme metal scene.

TMR: What do you think that is the most difficult thing to face in the music scene is?

The pressure, people who come to you after any release, people around me asking me without respect my songs before they’re officially realized, the problem of having a bad reputation without reasons, in this genre. I've dropped the project several times because of these negative things, but right now it's time for me, like the previous question said, I need to believe and take a new path for the true fans that support the project. Today I'm alone; all that I want is to keep working with my solo project Psychocalypse.

TMR: What is your opinion about the music industry today?
Spends a lot of money. Music is too expensive and there is a lot of adversity into the metal scene. After this upcoming EP and the upcoming third album, I'm really not sure if I would continue, maybe a little break will be cool for me and the project just to come back with a better energy.
